Chicago Bears 7 round mock draft 7.0

The Chicago Bears had a strong class of picks under GM Ryan Pace's first draft last year.  Who will the Bears pick in the 2016 NFL Draft?

With the aid of the site First-Pick.com, here is our mock draft 7.0 from April 9, 2016.

FIRST ROUND:

Shaq Lawson, OLB (Clemson)

Not the exact situation Ryan Pace is looking for with Goff, Wentz, Tunsil, Stanley, Ramsey, and Buckner off the board.  But you make do, right?  Shaq Lawson reminds me a lot of Pernell McPhee.  On one hand, that's because McPhee is the Bears best defensive player.  On the other hand, McPhee isn't a double sack guy.  With the #11 pick, you really want an elite pass rusher.  This is what happens in a draft class that lacks elite players.

SECOND ROUND:

Connor Cook, QB (Michigan State)

Let's face it.  The Bears need a long term answer at quarterback.  Jay is an above average QB, but he's on the wrong side of 30 and makes a lot of money.  I really only like 3 quarterbacks in this draft.  In this mock, two are already off the boards.  If you can get your third favorite in the second round...score!

THIRD ROUND:

Karl Joseph, S (West Virginia)

He suffered a season-ending knee injury.  That's the bad news.  The good news is he's a really heavy hitter that will use his body as a human missile.

FOURTH ROUND:

Bralon Addison, WR (Oregon)

Very quick.  Wore weird Oregon uniforms in college.  Didn't show any ill effects from a 2014 knee injury.  Probably winds up playing the slot position for the Bears when Eddie Royal gets hurt.

FOURTH ROUND:

C.J. Prosise, RB (Notre Dame)

Very limited experience at the runningback position.  Still has some kinks in his form.  But shows a ton of promise and when you put him in a rotation with Langford and Carey...I dig it.

FIFTH ROUND:

Bryce Williams, TE (East Carolina)

Poor man's Greg Olsen.  Other than his inability to block, I like Greg.  So there...

SIXTH ROUND:

Daryl Worley, CB (West Virginia)

Good size, good quickness, bad tackler.  Luckily you can learn tackling.

SIXTH ROUND:

D.J. Reader, DT (Clemson)

Big, athletic guy.  Can play 3-technique, but stout enough to play DE in a 3-4 defense. Had a great senior bowl week, but nothing spectacular in his college career.  

SEVENTH ROUND:

KeiVarae Russell, CB (Notre Dame)

Was a day 1 starter for Notre Dame until he had some university issues which cost him his college career.  Late 2-mid 3 round talent that falls to late or undrafted status.  Well worth the shot.

Bears 7-round Mock Draft 6.0 (April 3, 2016)

With the aid of the site First-Pick.com, here is our mock draft 6.0 from April 3, 2016.

FIRST ROUND:

Jared Goff, QB (Cal)

If one of the best QBs in the draft falls to you and is the best player on the board when you pick, you best believe that you pick him.  Let him back up Cutler for this year and develop a true QB of the future.

SECOND ROUND:

Robert Nkemdiche, DT/DE (Ole Miss)

Talented enough to be a top 5 pick, but character questions may drop him into the second round.  If he does drop, you snag him and put him on one side of Eddie Goldman and Hicks on the other and suddenly your run defense gets better.

THIRD ROUND:

T.J. Green, S (Clemson)

Not a lot of experience and had some hiccups in his college game, but more than enough talent and intangibles to make it at the next level.  Buzz is growing on TJ Green.

FOURTH ROUND:

Keanu Neal, FS/SS (Florida)

Absolutely heavy hitter.  Lacks a lot of athleticism, and needs time and experience to grow into a potential starter.  Could be a great special teamer in the meantime.

FOURTH ROUND:

Aaron Burbridge, WR (Michigan State)

Lacks great height and great speed, but doesn't need much separation to make catches.  Could develop into a nice possession receiver in the NFL.

FIFTH ROUND:

Kelvin Taylor, RB (Florida)

Son of former NFLer Fred Taylor. Lacks big play potential, but a tough runner.  Can be a nice NFL backup.

SIXTH ROUND:

Blake Martinez, ILB (Stanford)

Put up great numbers at Stanford.  Was it Stanford's scheme or can he replicate that in the NFL?

SIXTH ROUND:

Aaron Green, RB (TCU)

The guy has ridiculous open field moves, but is not a between the tackles runner.  Could be a change of pace/scat back.

SEVENTH ROUND:

Kevin Peterson, CB (Oklahoma State)

Peterson has world class speed and the ability to be a cover corner in the league.
